Alfonso Samos - Biography

Alfonso Samos Luna was born in Madrid (Spain) and started playing the guitar when he was only seven. His career in music began when he was twelve, playing Rock in several bands. At sixteen he joined a legendary Spanish Heavy Rock-band called Panzer and in the 90´s he joined D´Val. From then on, his compositions have been numerous and his style, unique.
When D´Val broke up, he begun to work on Spanish television programs as well as in many productions for other artists as a session guitarist. But it was with Ella Baila Sola, a Spanish Pop-band in which he played the guitar, composed and produced, when he first had several great hits throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Alfonso went on several world-tours with some albums which gave the group great popularity and success.
From then on, Samos has worked with first line artists such as Luz Casal, Hevia, Fran Perea , Sergio Dalma, Jennifer Rush ,Cristina del Valle , Greta y los Garbo ,Tontxu , Chenoa, Antonio Carmona or Diana Navarro among many others, sometimes playing the guitar and sometimes in charge of the artistic production or composing songs. He has been doing a great and very professional job for years in his own recording studio.
In 2001, Samos was rewarded with a “Goya”, the Spanish version of the “Oscar” for the music of the film “El Bosque Animado”.
In 2010 the members of D´Val got in touch with each other and spontaneously joined up again, and now Alfonso is a fundamental pillar in the band, which has been reborn under his leadership. They have restarted their adventure with a new name, THE VAL and with the LP “Back”, which has been produced by Samos at his recording studio im Madrid. Now Alfonso is working on The Val’s second album…
